One US military service °³²Æ÷ÀåÀÌ»ç=°³²Æ÷ÀåÀÌ»çÃßõ
member and two contractors were killed in an Islamist attack on a military base in Kenya.

Islamist militant group al-Shabab attacked ³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ=³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ
the base, used by Kenyan and US forces, in the popular coastal region of Lamu on Sunday.

The US military said in a statement ·¹Çø®Ä«±¸¸Å´ëÇà=·¹Çø®Ä«±¸¸Å´ëÇà
that two others from the Department of Defense were wounded.

"The wounded Americans are currently in stable condition and being evacuated," the US military's Africa Command said.

Witnesses to the attack reported ¸íÇ°±¸¸Å´ëÇà=¸íÇ°±¸¸Å´ëÇà
hearing gunfire and seeing plumes of black smoke emerge from Camp Simba on Manda Island.

Gen Stephen Townsend, commander of US Africa Command, added in a statement: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and ·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®=·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®
friends of our teammates who lost their lives today.

"As we honour their sacrifice, let's also harden our resolve. Alongside our African and international partners, we will pursue those responsible for this attack and al-Shabab, who seeks to harm Americans and US interests."

Al-Shabab is linked to al-Qaeda ¾Æ¹Ì¸£=¾Æ¹Ì¸£¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
and is headquartered in neighbouring Somalia.

The group has carried out a spate of attacks in the region since it was formed more than a decade ago.

On 28 December, about 80 ´Ò¹Ù·¿=´Ò¹Ù·¿¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
people were killed in a bombing in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu.

How has the international community reacted?
The other parties to the 2015 deal - the UK, France, Germany, China and Russia - tried to keep the agreement alive after the US ·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼ºÁö°©=·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼ºÁö°©
withdrew in 2018.

Late on Sunday, German Chancellor À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǹ̷¯±Þ=À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǹ̷¯±Þ
Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and British PM Boris Johnson released a joint statement urging Iran to drop measures that go against the ·çÀ̺ñÅë¿©ÀÚÁö°©=·çÀ̺ñÅë¿©ÀÚÁö°©
deal.

"We are ready to continue talks with all parties in order to contribute to de-escalating tensions and re-establishing stability in the region," they °æ±âÀϼö=°æ±âÀϼö¾Æ¸§´Ù¿ò
said.

Earlier on Sunday Mr Johnson said "we will not lament" the death of Soleimani, describing him as "a threat to all our interests".

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has invited Iran's Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, to visit Brussels to discuss both CP company=CP company¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
the nuclear deal and how to defuse the crisis over the Soleimani assassination.

What is Iran's new stance on the nuclear deal?
Under the 2015 accord, Iran ¼¼Å¹±â·»Å»=¼¼Å¹±â·»Å»´ë´ÜÇÔ
agreed to limit its sensitive nuclear activities and allow in international inspectors in return for the lifting of crippling economic ·¹Çø®Ä«¸íÇ°=·¹Çø®Ä«¸íÇ°
sanctions.

US President Donald Trump abandoned it in 2018, saying he wanted to force Iran to negotiate a new deal that would place indefinite curbs on its nuclear programme and also halt its development of ballistic missiles.

Iran refused, and had since been ¿ëÀÎÆ÷ÀåÀÌ»ç=¿ëÀÎÆ÷ÀåÀÌ»çÃßõ
gradually rolling back its commitments under the agreement. It had been expected to announce its latest stance on the agreement this weekend, before news of Soleimani's death.

Iranian state media announced ·¹Çø®Ä«¼îÇθô=·¹Çø®Ä«¼îÇθô
on Sunday that the country will no longer respect any limits laid down in the 2015 deal.

"Iran will continue its º£Æ®¸Û=º£Æ®¸Û¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
nuclear enrichment with no limitations and based on its technical needs," a statement said.

However, the statement did not say that Iran was È«Äá¸íÇ°°¡¹æ=È«Äá¸íÇ°°¡¹æ
actually withdrawing from the agreement and it added that the country would continue to co-operate with the UN's nuclear watchdog, the IAEA.

Iran, it said, was ready to return to its commitments once it enjoyed the benefits of the agreement. Correspondents say this is a reference to its inability to sell oil and have access to its income under US sanctions.

The 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, on life support ever since the Trump administration abandoned it in È«Äá¸íÇ°³²¼ºÀÇ·ù=È«Äá¸íÇ°µµ¸Å È«Äá¸íÇ°³²¼ºÀÇ·ù È«Äá¸íÇ°¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
May 2018, may now be in its final death throes.

Donald Trump, throughout his presidential campaign and then as president, has never failed to rail against what he calls his º¹ÇձⷻŻ=º¹ÇձⷻŻ¸®ºä
predecessor President Barack Obama's "bad deal". But all its other signatories - the UK, France, Russia, China, Germany and the EU - believe that it still has merit.

The agreement, known as the JCPOA, constrained ³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß=³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß
Iran's nuclear programme for a set period in a largely verifiable way. But its greatest significance - even more so given the current crisis - is that it helped to avert an imminent war. Before it was signed, there was mounting concern about Tehran's nuclear activities and every chance that Israel (or possibly Israel and the US in tandem) might attack Iran's nuclear facilities.

Since the US withdrawal, Iran ¿ÀÇÁÈÀÌÆ®=¿ÀÇÁÈÀÌÆ®¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
has successively breached key constraints of the JCPOA. Now it appears to be throwing these constraints out altogether. What matters now is what precisely it decides to do. Will it up its level of uranium enrichment, for example, to 20%? This would reduce ³²ÀÚ¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«=³²ÀÚ¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«
significantly the time it would take Tehran to obtain suitable material for a bomb. Will it continue to abide by enhanced international inspection measures?

We are now at the destination the Trump administration clearly hoped for in May 2018. But the major powers, while deeply unhappy about Iran's breaches of the deal, are also shocked at the controversial decision by Mr Trump to ·¹Çø®Ä«sa±Þ=·¹Çø®Ä«
a±Þ
kill the head of Iran's Quds Force, a decision that has again brought the US and Iran to the brink of war.

Simmering US-Iranian hostilities had escalated rapidly last week after the US conducted air strikes in Iraq and Syria ¾È¸¶ÀÇÀÚ·»Å»=¾È¸¶ÀÇÀÚ·»Å»¹ÏÀ»¸¸ÇÑ°÷
against an Iran-backed Iraqi militia, which the US blamed for an earlier rocket attack that killed an American civilian contractor. Pro-Iranian militia attacked ¶û¹æ=¶û¹æ¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
the US embassy in Baghdad in response.

In a letter to the UN Security Council, responding ·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è=·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è
to the strike on Soleimani, Iran's UN ambassador Majid Takht Ravanchi said that Iran reserved the right to self-defence under international law. Analysts said Iran could deploy cyber-attacks against the US, or attempt Áö¹æ½Ã=Áö¹æ½Ã¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
to strike US military targets or interests in the Middle East.

Iran supports a variety ·¹Çø®Ä«¹Ì·¯±Þ=·¹Çø®Ä«¹Ì·¯±Þ
of Shia militia groups in neighbouring Iraq. Soleimani had just arrived at Baghdad airport and was travelling in a convoy alongside officials from such militia when their cars were hit by several US missiles.

Al-Muhandis, the Iraqi militia leader ¼¿ï°³Àε·=¼¿ï°³Àε·½Ñ°÷
who was also killed in the strike, commanded the Kataib Hezbollah group - also backed by Iran.

Iraq now finds itself in a difficult position as an ally both of Iran and of the US. Thousands of US troops remain in the country to assist in the broader struggle against the Islamic State (IS) group. But the Iraqi government insists that the US has acted beyond the terms of this agreement.

Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi labelled the missile strike as a "brazen violation of Iraq's sovereignty and a blatant attack on the nation's dignity".

Iraq's parliament announced that it would hold an emergency meeting on Sunday.

A huge crowd in Iraq's capital Baghdad is taking part in a funeral procession for the Iranian military commander Qasem ½ÃÈï°³Àε·=½ÃÈï°³Àε·¾ÆÁÖÁÁÀ½
Soleimani, who was killed in a US air strike on Thursday.

Soleimani was the architect of Iran's Middle °æ±âÆ÷ÀåÀÌ»ç=°æ±âÆ÷ÀåÀÌ»çÈǸ¢ÇØ
East operations. Iran has vowed to take "severe revenge" for his death.

The gathering in Baghdad on Saturday marked the beginning of days of mourning for Soleimani.

His body is to be returned to Iran for a ¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
funeral and burial in his home town.

The crowds in Baghdad were also there to mourn the death of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, an Iraqi who commanded the Iranian-backed Kataib ³ÃÀå°í·»Å»=³ÃÀå°í·»Å»Ãßõ
Hezbollah group and effectively led the Popular Mobilisation units - an umbrella of militias in Iraq dominated by groups aligned with Iran.

Mourners started gathering in Baghdad from ÆòÅð³Àε·=ÆòÅð³Àε·¾Æ¸§´Ù¿ò
the early hours, ahead of the start of the procession, waving Iraqi and militia flags and chanting "death to America". The procession snaked though the streets, some carrying portraits of Soleimani and some of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Reports said the bodies of the Iranians would then be flown on Saturday evening to Iran, which has declared three days of È«Äá¸íÇ°½Ã°è=È«Äá¸íÇ°½Ã°è
mourning for the assassinated general. His funeral is to be held on Tuesday in his hometown of Kerman in central Iran.

Some Iraqis, conversely, celebrated in Baghdad's streets at the news of Soleimani's death. He was accused of orchestrating violent crackdowns ·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®=·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®
on peaceful pro-democracy protests there in recent months.

As if the differences between LED, OLED, QLED and microLED were not baffling enough, there will be a new technology ¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß=¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß
in town: Mini-LED.

This involves using smaller light-emitting diodes than normal, to illuminate a screen's colour pixels. This allows there to be more distinct ³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
lighting zones, which in turn should reduce the blooming effect you sometimes get when light spills from bright objects in a È«Äá¸íÇ°¿©¼º½Å¹ß=È«Äá¸íÇ°¿©¼ºÁö°© È«Äá¸íÇ°³²¼º½Å¹ß È«Äá¸íÇ°¿©¼º½Å¹ß
scene into surrounding darker areas.

It won't produce the deep ½º¸¶Æ®TV·»Å»=½º¸¶Æ®TV·»Å»ÂøÇÑ°÷
blacks of OLED, where each pixel is self-illuminating. Nor will it match microLED tech, where the diodes are so small they can be assigned to the pixels on a 1:1 basis.

But it should deliver an impressive HDR (high dynamic range) picture at a relatively affordable price.

TCL has confirmed it will launch Mini-LED TVs at CES, and other brands may do so too, even if they call them by another name.

Also look out to see which brands ·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®=·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®
adopt the new Filmmaker Mode

A number of Hollywood directors, including Martin Scorsese, James Cameron and Christopher Nolan, have spearheaded an initiative to let TVs display movies as their creators intended.

At a single button push, motion-blurring is switched off, and the colours, frame rate and aspect ratio are all adjusted.

LG, Panasonic and Vizio have already Æä¶ó°¡¸ð=Æä¶ó°¡¸ð¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
indicated they will adopt this in at least some new TVs.

India captain Virat Kohli says he is "not a fan" of the À½½Ä¹°Ã³¸®±â·»Å»=À½½Ä¹°Ã³¸®±â·»Å»´ë´ÜÇÔ
proposal to reduce Test matches from five to four days.

A reduction in match length is likely to be discussed in January when the International Cricket Council considers the Test ºÎõ°³Àε·=ºÎõ°³Àε·ÀßÇϴ°÷
calendar beyond 2023.

But top-ranked Test batsman È«Äá¸íÇ°°¡¹æ=È«Äá¸íÇ°¿©¼º½Ã°è È«Äá¸íÇ°°¡¹æ È«Äá¸íÇ°Áö°©
Kohli, 31, said: "I think the intent will not be right then because then you will speak of three-day Tests.

"Where do you end? Then you will speak of Test cricket disappearing."

The England and Wales Cricket ·¹Çø®Ä«±¸¸Å´ëÇà=·¹Çø®Ä«±¸¸Å´ëÇà
Board has said it "cautiously supports" the proposal because it would reduce player workload.

India are the world number one Test side, having won five and drawn one of their past six series.

"I don't think that's fair to the purest format of the game," Kohli said when asked about four-day Tests.

"How cricket started initially, five-day Test matches was the highest test you can have at international level.

"It shouldn't be ³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ=³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ
altered."

South Africa played a four-day Test against Zimbabwe in December 2017, while England also hosted Ireland at Lord's in a four-day match in July 2019.
