Alternative end-of-year football awards: Who was the best player? Who had the biggest meltdown?

The end of 2019 is ÄíÄí Àξؾƿô ÀÚµ¿»ì±Õ ³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å»=ÄíÄí Àξؾƿô 10s ÀÚµ¿»ì±Õ ³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å» ´ÙÅ©½Ç¹öºü¸§
almost upon us, and what a year in football it has been.

Manchester City won the ¾óÀ½Á¤¼ö±â·»Å»=ûȣ³ªÀ̽º »ì±Õ ¾óÀ½³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å» SANITA Ƽź¹ÏÀ»¸¸ÇѰ÷
Premier League title for a second consecutive year, Liverpool became European and world champions and Jamie Vardy turned into Benjamin Button to produce one of his most prolific 12 months of his career.

So, as this time is usually ·¹Çø®Ä«³²¼º°¡¹æ=·¹Çø®Ä«³²¼º°¡¹æ ·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼º°¡¹æ ·¹Çø®Ä«³²¼ºÁö°©
a period to reflect upon the good and the bad of the year gone by, we here at BBC Sport consider some alternative football awards.

From the best player to the biggest meltdown, here's our completely unofficial and by no means deadly serious list.

Jamie Vardy has been a player reborn in 2019.

By the end of last year, Vardy's ´ä·Ê¶±
goalscoring record looked every bit that of a player heading into his twilight years as he reached Christmas with six goals in the first half of the 2018-19 season.

On Monday a court in Moscow rejected an appeal made by Mr Shaveddinov against his conscription on medical grounds.

That evening he was ¸·½º¸¶¶ó=¸·½º¸¶¶ó¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
taken from his flat and his phone stopped answering, Russian media report. His disappearance was reported by the FBK.

According to Mr Navalny, the missing ¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«=¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«
man managed to borrow a phone on Wednesday and called him to say he had been taken to a base of the 33rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, whose headquarters is in Rogachovo, Novaya Zemlya.

He said he was under ³²¼º¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«=³²¼º¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«
constant supervision, with a man assigned to accompany him everywhere including the toilet.

His own phone was confiscated, Mr ´ä·Ê¶±
Navalny said, even though conscripts are allowed to have phones as long they are not internet-enabled.

Mr Shaveddinov was allowed to walk freely about the barracks but the temperature was minus 27C.

According to Mr Navalny, lawyers for the activist would be challenging his conscription, saying he had been kidnapped and was being detained illegally.

The protests, which had been largely peaceful in recent weeks, have turned more confrontational over the festive season.

On Wednesday hundreds ³²ÀÚ¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«=³²ÀÚ¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«
of activists marched through shopping centres shouting slogans such as "Liberate Hong Kong! Revolution of our times!" Police arrested several people after using pepper spray.

The clashes were on a lesser À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǽðè=À̹ÌÅ×ÀÌ¼Ç À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǽðè À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǹ̷¯±Þ
scale than Tuesday, when activists set up barricades and threw petrol bombs across the city, while police used pepper spray and batons.

Hong Kong was a British °ÕÁ¶=°ÕÁ¶¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
colony until 1997, after which it was returned to China under the "one country, two systems" arrangement.

Under the agreement, Hong Kong is °æ»ê»çµ¿Á·¹ß
expected to have a high degree of autonomy from mainland China, and residents enjoy more freedoms than those on the mainland.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte mingled with the crowds as they attended the Royal Family's Christmas Day church service for the first time.

Prince Philip, who ¿ÀÇÁÈÀÌÆ®=¿ÀÇÁÈÀÌÆ®¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
was released from hospital on Tuesday, did not attend.

A large crowd gathered to greet the Queen and family members as they attended the service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham.

Prince Andrew, who stepped ³²ÀÚ¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«=³²ÀÚ¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«
back from royal duties last month, kept a low profile at the event.

The 11am service was broadcast live to the hundreds of visitors who had gathered outside the church.

Some had queued from the ¸íǰÈĵ导=¸íǰÈĵ导
early hours of the morning in the hope of seeing the Royal Family.

Well-wishers held out flowers and gifts for Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince George, six, who were accompanied °æ»ê»çµ¿Á·¹ß
by their parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

There had been speculation over whether Prince Andrew would join the rest of his family at Sandringham, after controversy over his links with billionaire sex offender Jeffery Epstein saw him sidelined from royal duties.

While most of the family ¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
arrived in front of crowds lining the roads, Andrew, accompanied by his brother, arrived earlier at the church and used a different entrance.

His daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, both attended the main service.

The BBC's royal correspondent Çѻ½÷çÁ÷¼öÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å»=¿õÁøÄÚ¿þÀÌ Çѻ ½Ã·çÁ÷¼ö Á¤¼ö±â·»Å» / CHP-8300R¹ÏÀ»¸¸ÇѰ÷
Nicholas Witchell said the prince was a "significant absentee" from the main service at 11am.

Our correspondent said: "If he had attended [the main service] a lot of the coverage would have been around È«Äá¸íǰ±¸¸Å´ëÇà=È«Äá¸íǰ½Å¹ß È«Äá¸íǰ±¸¸Å´ëÇà È«Äᱸ¸Å´ëÇà
him. He has become... something of an embarrassment currently to the Royal Family."

The Queen's attendance at church ´ä·Ê¶±
preceded her Christmas Day message - in which she described 2019 as "quite bumpy".

She said that "positive things" could be achieved when differences were set aside and people came together "in the spirit of friendship and reconciliation".

"As we all look forward to the start of a new decade, it's worth remembering that it is often the small steps, not the giant leaps, that bring about the most lasting change," she said.

"The challenges many ·çÀ̺ñÅë¿©ÀÚÁö°©=·çÀ̺ñÅë¿©ÀÚÁö°©
people face today may be different to those once faced by my generation, but I have been struck by how new generations have brought a similar sense of purpose to issues such as protecting our environment and our climate," the Queen said.

The Queen's message comes after a ¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«=¸íǰ·¹Çø®Ä«
year of intense political debate over Brexit, as well as a number of personal events affecting the Royal Family.

As well as the controversy over Prince Andrew, the year has seen the Duke and Duchess of Sussex take legal action against a newspaper and speak of the pressures of parenthood and royal life.

There have also been concerns ûȣ À̰ú¼ö Á¤¼ö±â=ûȣ³ªÀ̽º ûȣ À̰ú¼ö ³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å» OMNI plus Ä«¿îÅÍ Å¾ÇüÈǸ¢ÇØ
over the health of Prince Philip, who was involved in a car crash at the beginning of the year.

Prince Phillip returned to Sandringham õ¾È¿ø·ë¸Å¸Å
on Christmas Eve after spending four nights in hospital.

He was taken to King Edward VII's Hospital in London on Friday on the advice of his doctor.

The 98-year-old retired from public life in August 2017 and his last public appearance was at Lady Gabriella Windsor's wedding in May.

The Indian cabinet has approved funds for a census and a population survey to be held next year despite weeks of protests over a citizenship law that critics say is anti-Muslim.

Authorities say the ·¹Çø®Ä«±¸¸Å´ëÇà=·¹Çø®Ä«±¸¸Å´ëÇà
updated National Population Register (NPR) will be a comprehensive list of all residents.

However, critics say it will be a list from ÆĶóÁ¡ÆÛ½º¿©ÀÚÁö°©=ÆĶóÁ¡ÆÛ½º¿©ÀÚÁö°©
which "doubtful citizens" will be asked to prove they are Indian.

More than 20 people have died in protests over the citizenship law.

What is the NPR?
Authorities say the aim of the NPR is to ¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß=¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß
create a comprehensive identity database of every "usual resident" of the country.

A "usual resident" is a person ÀÌÅ¿øºÎµ¿»ê
who has lived in an area for at least six months or a person who plans to live in an area for the next six months or more. This means foreigners living in India would be included in the NPR.

After Tuesday's cabinet meeting, minister Prakash Javadekar said the government had allocated 39.4bn rupees ($553m; ¡Ì427m) for the NPR and that it would be updated between April and September 2020.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Chris Woakes is the latest player to miss training because of illness in the England camp.

Bowlers Jofra Archer, Stuart È«Äá¸íǰ»çÀÔ=È«Äá¸íǰ»çÀÔ
Broad and Jack Leach all missed the warm-up matches but have returned to training.

"We're trying to manage it as best we can," said Root.

"We have some very ³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ=³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ
talented players who, given an opportunity, will be desperate to prove a point and stand their mark on this series.

"We will probably have to pick a side at the last minute."

England's leading Test wicket-taker ·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼º°¡¹æ=·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼º°¡¹æ
James Anderson, 37, is set to feature against South Africa in what will be his 150th Test appearance.

"It's a phenomenal achievement - but to do it as a fast bowler, putting your body through that for that amount of time, shows incredible °æ»ê»çµ¿Á·¹ß
stamina," said Root.

"He physically looks in as good a shape as I have ever seen him. He is a great example to any young player and the rest of our squad."

Ben Stokes did not train with England on Tuesday because his father had been admitted to hospital in South Africa after suffering a serious illness.

Stokes' father, Ged, was in a critical ûȣ³ªÀ̽º ¾óÀ½Á¤¼ö±â·»Å»=ûȣ³ªÀ̽º ¾óÀ½³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å» OMNI plus UV ¥á°·ÂÃßõ
condition after being taken to hospital in Johannesburg on Monday.

All-rounder Stokes, 28, did ÄíÄíÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å»=ÄíÄí ³»Ãß·²¿öÅÍ ³Ã¿Â Á¤¼ö±â·»Å» ½ºÅĵåÇüÀßÇϴ°÷
not attend England's training session at SuperSport Park so he can be at his 64-year-old father's bedside.

"It puts things in perspective," said England captain Joe Root.

"We're here to play good, hard cricket, but it's ¿õÁøÄÚ¿þÀÌ ½Ã·ç Á÷¼ö Á¤¼ö±â=¿õÁøÄÚ¿þÀÌ ½Ã·ç Á÷¼ö Á¤¼ö±â·»Å» ½Ç¹ö / CHP-7300RÇÕ¸®ÀûÀΰ÷
important as a squad that we want Ben and his family to have all the support ÀÌÅ¿øºÎµ¿»ê
they can get."

Root said he did not know whether Stokes would be available for the first of four Tests against South Africa, which begins on Thursday (08:00 GMT).

"What's most important is we support him and his family. It's crucial that comes first," he added.

New Zealand police are calling off the search for two bodies still missing after the White Island eruption.

The volcanic eruption earlier this À̹ÌÅ×À̼ÇÁö°©=À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǿ©¼º°¡¹æ À̹ÌÅ×À̼dz²¼ºÁö°© À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǿ©¼ºÁö°©
month killed 19 people, including two people who were never found.

It's thought the bodies of Winona ³²¼º·¹Çø®Ä«=³²¼º·¹Çø®Ä«
Jane Langford, 17, and Hayden Bryan Marshall-Inman, 40, are in the water off the island.

Police said their decision "follows extensive shoreline and substantial aerial searches".

But despite those searches, "no further items of significance have been located".

"The families of the two missing ·¹Çø®Ä«Áö°©=·¹Çø®Ä«Áö°©
people have been informed of this decision," said Superintendent Andy McGregor. "Police remain ready to respond if new information comes to light."

The eruption on White Island - a popular tourist destination - happened on 9 December.

There were 47 people on ÀÌÅ¿øºÎµ¿»ê
the island, with 24 from Australia, nine from the US, five from New Zealand, four from Germany, two from China, two from the UK, and one from Malaysia.
