The Saudi gunman who attacked a Florida navy base on Friday played videos of mass shootings at a dinner beforehand, US media reports say.

Mohammed Alshamrani - who was training at the Pensacola base - killed three sailors before being shot dead.

The US Navy said the sailors "showed exceptional heroism and bravery in the face of evil".

They were named as Joshua Kaleb Watson, 23, Mohammed Sameh Haitham, 19, and Cameron Scott Walters, 21.

Several Saudi trainees have reportedly been held for questioning.

Authorities have not alleged that they were involved in the attack, which took place across two floors in a classroom on Friday morning.

Despite facing a host of UN and other sanctions over its nuclear and missile programmes, North Korea earlier this year re-started testing of short-range ballistic missiles.

And earlier this week it renewed verbal attacks on Mr Trump for the first time in over a year after he said the US reserved the right to use military force against the country.

Analysts believe that North Korea could launch a satellite if it does not obtain concessions from the US. This would allow it to test and show off its rocket capabilities in a less provocative way than launching a long-range ballistic missile.

Russia has become the master of denial in recent years. From military incursions to hacking to assassinations, the Kremlin has sworn blind it's not involved.

But now the country's athletes are waiting nervously, facing sweeping sanctions for another doping-linked scandal, and senior officials are keeping their silence.

There is one, striking exception.

Yuri Ganus has been warning for months that Russian sport stands on a "cliff-edge" and needs to radically clean up its act. For that, the head of Russia's anti-doping agency, Rusada, says he has received pressure and threats.

"Threats or not, clean sport is my mission," Mr Ganus told the BBC, in offices whose corridors are hung with messages of encouragement for a reformed Rusada from other anti-doping bodies around the world.

Saudi Arabia is a key US ally in the Middle East and President Trump said the Saudi king called him after the attack to "express his sincere condolences and give his sympathies to the families and friends of the warriors who were killed".

Mr Trump said King Salman told him that "this person in no way shape or form represents the feelings of the Saudi people who love the American people".

The US president later said the Saudi leaders were "devastated" after the attack, adding: "I think they are going to help out the families very greatly."

Earlier, in the aftermath of the attack, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said Saudi Arabia owed "a debt here, given that this was one of their individuals".

"There's obviously going to be a lot of questions about this individual being a foreign national, being a part of the Saudi air force and then to be here training on our soil," he said.

North Korea had set an end-of-year deadline for the US to come up with a new denuclearisation deal that would involve significant sanctions relief and said it would otherwise adopt a "new path".

On Saturday, US President Donald Trump said he still hoped to reach an agreement.

Mr Trump made pursuing diplomacy with North Korea a centre-piece of his foreign policy agenda in 2018 but has failed to extract significant concessions on denuclearisation despite holding two summits with leader Kim Jong-un and even setting foot in North Korea.

The latest test took place at the Sohae satellite launch site, which the US once said Mr Kim had promised to close.

North Korea says it has carried out a "very important test" at a satellite-launching site.

The KCNA state news agency said the results would be used to upgrade the country's strategic status. It provided no further details.

Analysts believe it could be a ground-based test of an engine to power a satellite launcher or an intercontinental ballistic missile.

It comes after Pyongyang appeared to shut the door on further US talks.

"We do not need to have lengthy talks with the US now, and denuclearisation is already gone out of the negotiating table," the North Korean envoy to the UN, Kim Song, said in a statement on Saturday.

Ferguson emerged just before kick-off to a raucous reputation and wasted no time reconnecting with the fans who adored him as a player.

Never mind the smart shoes, he was off down the touchline at a fair lick whenever celebrating.

The most important thing for Everton and Ferguson was the result - and that came deservedly from a set of players who should actually question themselves over how they showed a competitive edge and fire that was missing under Silva.

Everton were resilient in a way they have not been this season, while Calvert-Lewin channelled the spirit of Ferguson by giving Chelsea's defenders a nightmare afternoon.

Ferguson has long enjoyed cult status with a large section of Everton's support - and he has added another chapter, albeit a small one, with this memorable victory.

The 47-year-old was visibly emotional at the prospect of managing Everton, even for one game. He was suited and booted - determined to relish every second.

In some respects the Scot was last man standing because he has been on the coaching staff under Roberto Martinez, Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce and Marco Silva.

This was his time and he certainly left a lasting impression with his fierce intensity, touchline demands and wild goal celebrations.

Chelsea have been described many times as a work in progress under Lampard - and this showed exactly why.

They have been vulnerable defensively all season but here at Goodison, with Everton inspired, all the flaws were on display.

Calvert-Lewin was the main beneficiary, taking advantage of chaos in the penalty area to score the Toffees' second, then striking again late on after Kepa compounded a poor clearance by letting the forward's his shot through his legs.

Chelsea can enter the market in January after their transfer ban was reduced to one window on appeal - and on this evidence Lampard will be spending a large part of his funds on stiffening a leaky defence.

Ferguson is in interim control after Marco Silva was sacked following Wednesday's Merseyside derby thrashing at Liverpool that had left the Toffees in the relegation zone.

And Everton banished their recent struggles to run out fully deserved winners on a thunderous occasion illuminated by the former striker's wild celebrations.

The Scot raced down the touchline when Richarlison headed Everton in front from Djibril Sidibe's cross after only five minutes, then swung a ball boy around in the air when Dominic Calvert-Lewin took advantage of slipshod Chelsea defending to increase their lead four minutes after half-time.
